- Abstract
- Searching for Phoebe consists of two parts: first, a collection of ekphrastic poems responding to the artwork and life of Scottish Arts and Crafts artist Phoebe Anna Traquair (1852-1936) followed by a reflection on the development of feminist ekphrasis. The poems aim to re-present Traquair, her art and her historical narrative that faded through history. To encourage further viewing of the art objects, some poems feature footnotes and/or reference to the Appendix of Images. The reflection analyses the theory that influenced the poetry collection, which includes studies of Victorian life writing, the formation of women's identities and approaches used to build a feminist ekphrasis
